MFA VISUAL ART PROGRAM

Established in 2021, the MFA Visual Art program is run by nationally recognized faculty within the Art Department at MIU. Low Residency MFA students work directly with a rotating roster of visiting artists during summer and winter residencies and meet in person with visiting artist mentors in their home studios during remote semesters.

The Low Residency MFA Visual Art Program at MIU is unique among graduate art programs as it provides students an opportunity to pursue an in-depth graduate-level experience that is flexible and tailored to their individual needs. Students cultivate a community of support around their practice, developing friendships and connections to sustain a life in art.

MA IN STUDIO ART

The MA in Studio Art at MIU is an intensive, two-semester exploration into studio practice that prepares students for entering an MFA program or a career in art. In a creative environment, supported by faculty, peers and guest artists, students create a sustainable studio practice, create a substantial body of quality work and strengthen their creative voices.
